Payment readers change more frequently than many tablet deployments. Building the reader holder as a detachable module can reduce the amount of hardware that must be redesigned when a peripheral is updated. Goochain uses this principle to develop modular 10.9-inch iPad enclosures for POS brands and system integrators.
The tablet enclosure, reader carrier, charging path and stand interface are reviewed together, but the modules can be serviced separately. A magnetic location feature may make assembly convenient, while screws, latches or other retention can be added when the operating environment requires controlled removal. The final structure is based on the customer's tablet and reader, not on a universal opening.
Design Focus
The reader module must support access to tap, chip or swipe zones without blocking the tablet camera, speakers or controls. Goochain reviews user reach, cable bend radius, contact path, fastener access and replacement sequence before the enclosure is released for tooling.
