POS HARDWARE · ENGINEERING GUIDE
A custom NYC1 charging dock needs a clear accessory specification before the housing is finalized.
Goochain has developed standalone NYC1 dock designs and works with customers on the reader seat, charging arrangement, cable route and manufacturing scope. This guide explains what to define when your program needs a branded or project-specific accessory.

Record the reader model, revision and any housing or attachment that remains fitted during charging. Provide a sample where possible. A dock developed around the bare reader may not accept the same reader inside a protective shell. The reference sample also makes it possible to check the permitted insertion direction and access to controls.
Describe whether the device stays at the counter or is taken away between transactions. Those routines affect retention and release. They also determine whether a compact base, fixed installation or easier one-handed removal deserves priority.
Reader charging, charging a connected mobile device and USB communication are different functions. The original-brand dock may combine functions within its own electronics and supported system. A custom Goochain accessory must define its own scope; the product name alone does not establish equivalent operation.
For a charging project, start with the reader power path and intended source. If wired communication is needed, the customer’s POS team should also identify the host, software environment and required approvals so the complete connection can be evaluated.

A useful project brief lists the reader version, counter layout, supply requirements, cable exit, fixing method, appearance and forecast quantities. The quote should state whether it covers the dock only, a cable assembly, an adapter or a larger kit. This prevents a mechanically correct prototype from being mistaken for a complete system-ready accessory.
